A fourteen year Mt. Lebanon mom, Leeann Foster has practiced for 24 years as an attorney representing working people and negotiating multi-million dollar deals over complex and varied issues including health care, pensions, safety, and workplace investment that require considering all interests and finding solutions to complex problems that everyone involved can support.
Although Leeann’s professional career has spanned the states of Iowa, Arkansas, Wisconsin, and Tennessee, Leeann and family settled in Mt. Lebanon because of all that the Mt. Lebanon community offers to live, work, and raise a family. Leeann has found a true home in Mt. Lebanon in a way that she hasn’t found anywhere else since leaving her hometown in 1992 to pursue her education.
Raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Leeann learned the value of a strong work ethic from her parents. Her mother raised Leeann and her two older brothers until Leeann was in 3rd grade, and then went to work outside of the home at an elder care facility. Leeann’s father worked for over 45 years in a box factory—the same factory Leeann would go on to work at to fund her college education.
Leeann graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids with an English and Classical Studies degree, and earned her Juris Doctorate at Drake Law School in Des Moines, Iowa. Upon graduating from law school, Leeann began her professional career in private practice as a labor law attorney and soon became Associate General Counsel the United Paperworkers International Union as that ultimately became part of the United Steelworkers in 2005. Along with her current role overseeing bargaining in union’s paper sector,, Leeann is proud to hold an oversight role in the Steelworkers’ Women of Steel leadership development program that brings the unique perspectives and skills of women forward.
Leeann’s passions in life are her husband Craig and children Evan (17) and Maia (16), ensuring everyone has a voice and opportunities at work and in our society, all Pittsburgh sports, the Iowa Hawkeyes, Manchester United, and the family’s yellow lab, Holly, who you will often see on walks with Leeann or Craig in the Foster School area.
