The Mt. Lebanon Democratic Committee and many of its members and constituents attended the President Clinton Rally for Tom Wolf today at the IBEW in Pittsburgh’s South Side. It was a rally during which local and national democratic leaders spoke in support of Tom Wolf and his candidacy for Governor of PA.
Allegheny County Democratic Chair Nancy Patton Mills opened the event and thanked all in attendance. Congressman Mike Doyle talked about the importance of getting out the vote. Senator Bob Casey spoke about Wolf’s candidacy and a bit about President Clinton. County Executive Rich Fitzgerald spoke about the importance of electing Tom Wolf and assembling an amazing democratic team in Pennsylvania; one that could move the state in the right direction with regard to education and economic initiatives.
President Clinton took the stage and after a few short jokes about the throwback Steeler uniforms he moved into a rousing speech about the potential for Pittsburgh to become a leader in economics and education, and how he believed Tom Wolf is uniquely qualified to help move Pennsylvania forward.
President Clinton also talked about the importance of Wolf’s experience running a family business, putting Pennsylvanian’s to work and creating and sustaining jobs. He spoke about Tom’s advanced education and his commitment to lowering tuition costs at our amazing universities and local colleges. He spoke about his own experiences as a Governor of Arkansas dealing with energy companies and how he and Wolf have similar ideas on how to best use and work with those resources.
His final message was one of warning – not to be complacent during mid-term elections, and not to rely on polls that show Wolf is favored, but to get out and vote on election day, Tuesday November 4, 2014, to ensure that Tom Wolf is elected Governor. Clinton closed out the rally by stating “Wherever people are working together, good things are happening… great things will happen when Tom Wolf becomes the Governor of Pennsylvania.”
